Went to the Benicassim Festival with Bjorn and Jessica, Claire and Karen, and Ailbhe (who was waiting outside a white dome waiting for anyone); When we arrived we had a few drinks and a bite to eat, and started wandering around, wondering why there was no music anywhere; turns out that because of a storm (we had noticed it was a bit windier than normal) the festival was cancelling most of the acts for the night; so the only music we heard that night was paul weller backstage, and the silent disco (dancing with a headset receiving a few DJ channels); and some shit band that i won’t even bother looking up the name for. A bit peed off we drove back to the flat, stopping at a beautiful chiringuito for our dinner: nachos and olives.
Next day, after a beautiful breakfast (right, Björn?) and some interesting debate about Spanish food (right, Björn Again?), we went looking for some beach gear, breaking some toes in the process - not mine so that was OK - , and hung out by the pool in the flat for an hour or 2. Shower, make up, beer, and back to the festival, which was MUCH better as the storm had settled and there was music playing. Kings of Leon weren’t rescheduled unfortunately, Lily Allen had canceled, instead came Maximo Park which was good. Then we caught the last bit of the Wave Pictures, who I didn’t know but sounded good, and then saw Peaches, which was fast, furious and fantastic; thanks to our backstage passes we got to tell her that in person, too. After that we joined up with the others to see the last of Franz Ferdinand, which seemed a bit lame in comparison, and then we saw 2 many DJs closing the main stage for the day; they were up to standard and got everyone (minus 1 with a broken toe) rocking. That was it for us and we headed back to the flat - thanks bjorn for all the driving and Claire for organising the cool tickets. next time without the wind though, please!

Do you want to mention the wildfire across the street from the festival that threatened to shut it down before the wind even became a problem? What a fucking weekend. We survived!

we didn’t really see the fire; it started when we arrived but we went straight to the bar to eat and drink and when we left the bar i it was out already, so we didn’t hear about it until much later…
