I am writing this on Lucas 5th month birthday. To say there has been a huge change in him the last month is actually an understatement. He turned a corner about 4 weeks ago, and again in the last 2 weeks he has undergone a huge transformation - my little baba is such a happy little boy now. No longer am I holding him in my arms all day, most of it on my feet doing “the bounce”. No longer do I need (or Loida) to carry him in a sling.  He  really has become a joy to be around.

I do think we did our best those first hard few weeks, and even when thinking we maybe were doing things “wrong” according to many of the books - sleeping with him, keeping him on the boob, holding him all the time - we obviously must have done something right for him, as now my little man is happy, and really is such a great baby to be around.

So what is he up to.   He is smiling all the time, and has started to laugh. He is very much an active bunny - it is all go go go.  He hardly ever stops babbling, in particular in the early hours of the morning. He is loving his toys, and happily plays away with whatever Alina throws at him, in particular things that make noise. He just learnt to roll around. He LOVES his bath, and wets me and the whole of the bathroom from splashing. He is fascinated by his hands, and has managed to grab his feet.  He still goes to bed really easily at night, although he does fights sleep during the day.  I do have to say he is still a sensitive chap - like a Porsche he goes from extremely happy to miserable in record seconds!  We started on solids 4 days ago - although with Alina i waited until 6 months, Luca kept looking at me eating which i took as a sign he was ready for something other then boob milk! After a dodgy start (nectarine and apple not his cup of tea), we discovered banana - he loves it. My one complaint is that he is a morning child, like his dad, and so wakes up at 6am full of life and chat…..that for me, being a night owl, is hard to take. But otherwise i really have no complaints.

I am not liking how quickly he is growing, he seems so much bigger then Alina was, but I am happy that i was able to get 6 months off to be able to spend this time with him (took holidays so i have 4 weeks to go before I join the working world again). He is my little man, and I feel soooo lucky to have him and his beautiful big sister as my two kids
